Successful Intentions Newsletter

Hi ,

How is a private enterprise or government organisation like a human cell?

They both produce "harmonic energy"!

Cellular biologists recognize that the human cell is virtually filled with fibers, tubes and filaments, collectively called the cytoplasmic matrix. This matrix is the "architecture" of the cell and it generates a small piezoelectric charge, enough to power a "crystal radio set" (I had one of those as a boy - which says something about my age!).

It turns out the human cell behaves much more like a crystal than just a bag of chemicals.

So what does this have to do with organisations?

Well, here are some common features:

  1. The structure of the cell acts to "harmonize" its various piezoelectric fluctuations to produce a "resonant" signal. This is like the Climate of the organisation. You can easily distinguish the difference between a "resonant" climate and a "dissonant" climate. It's when everyone is tuned in to the same frequency.
  2. Just like the nucleus of the cell, the guiding principal for an organization is its Meaning. This is where the company's DNA is to be found - what it stands for, its purpose, its motivation, its reason for "being".
  3. Managing cellular energy demands the close cooperation of biochemical, electrical, and structural processes. Managing the company's output requires the development of Operational, Conceptual, and Organisation elements.
  4. The identity of the cell - what kind of cell it is (liver, brain, gut, etc.), depends on its gene expression. The expression of the company depends on the Managerial and Personal identity development of the producers of energy - the organisation's managers.
  5. Cell's are constantly adapting to their environment to maximize energy output. Creating a learning environment through Education development is a similar process in organisations for innovating new responses to the business environment.

The Neurobiology of Integrative Management is a holistic program for managers and leaders to "refresh" their organisation's approach to business threats and opportunities. Find out more here.
